SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 24
(By Senators Prezioso, Oliverio, Anderson, Minard, Sharpe, Ross,
Helmick, Kessler, Edgell, Hunter, Minear and Ball)
Congratulating Blaire Nuzum and Melinda Poland on achieving
national recognition for volunteer service by receiving Spirit
of Community awards for 2000.
Whereas, Blaire Nuzum, a student at East Fairmont High School,
has achieved national recognition for exemplary volunteer service
by receiving a silver Prudential Spirit of Community award for
2000; and
Whereas, Melinda Poland, a student at Morgantown High School,
has achieved national recognition for exemplary volunteer service
by receiving a bronze Prudential Spirit of Community award for
2000; and
Whereas, These prestigious awards honor young volunteers
across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to
serving their communities; and
Whereas, The success of the State of West Virginia, the
strength of our communities and the overall vitality of American
society depends, in great measure, upon the dedication of young
people like Blaire Nuzum and Melinda Poland who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others; therefore, be
it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby congratulates Blaire Nuzum of East
Fairmont High School and Melinda Poland of Morgantown High School
on their receipt of the Spirit of Community award and hereby
recognizes their outstanding record of volunteer service and
community spirit; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to Blaire Nuzum and Melinda Poland.
